With several delegates and staff arriving in the early week, the purplehotel in Glasgow, Scotland, started having a definite space flare. As SGC2008 staff checked delegates in, they were welcomed with swag bags of information, goodies, and gifts from the generous event sponsors.

Over twenty delegates arrived on Wednesday and checked into the hotel. In the evening, all met for a crucial information transfer from the event manager and staff, and to meet each other, one of the most amazing parts of SGC each year. In fact, SGAC realising the power and energy of in-person gatherings for people who work spread across the globe most of the year, and who are often isolated from others with same passion and drive focused on space, first led to the establishment of SGC.

For many, it was the first time meeting in person after months of hard work online. For others, this was one of very few opportunities each year to reconnect in person to friends spread across the globe. With the conclusion of the official announcements, Wednesday night initiated the first of many long evenings of fun among the delegates.
